The Danish government announces a donation of 9.5 million US dollars in humanitarian emergency aid to flood victims in Pakistan.
Denmark was among the first countries, which showed their immediate support to Pakistan by initially donating 1.5 million US dollars in days following the floods, says a press release received here.
This amount has now been topped, bringing the Danish contribution to a total of 11 million US dollars.
It says that Denmark is among the international donors that have given the most per capita in emergency aid following the natural disaster.
The bulk of the Danish funds have been given to international organizations such as UNHCR (3.1 million), UN’s World Food Programme (2.6 million), and the International Committee of the Red Cross (2.6 million).
Danish humanitarian organizations have also been allocated 2.4 million dollars to provide immediate assistance in close cooperation with Pakistani partner organizations, it adds.
