Violence again griped the city on Monday night when some unidentified gunmen killed three persons including DSP Nawaz Ranjha, Aaj News reported.
According to sources unidentified gunmen opened fire in front of Radio Pakistan on M.A. Jinnah road due to which DSP Nawaz Ranjha, Head Constable Jahangir and Dr. Najam ul Hassan got killed; where as a passerby woman known as Bilquis also sustained injuries.
Soon after this incident, a heavy contingent of police reached the spot and cordoned off the whole area.
Earlier in Nazimabad No 6, Religious Scholar Mirza Yousuf Hussian’s son Mirza Khadim Hussain was shot dead by some unidentified persons.
Khadim Hussain had left his home for his shop in a nearby market in Nazimabad No 3 when armed motorcyclists attacked him. Khadim Hussain, who received multiple shots in his upper torso, was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH).
Due to excessive bleeding, the bullet wounds proved fatal and he died during treatment at ASH. The family of the victim hailed from Gilgit and has been residing in the city for a long time.
Later, his body was shifted to Rizvia Imambargah in Nazimabad. No case was lodged till our going to press.
Following the assassination of Khadim Hussain, unidentified men forcibly closed shops and markets in Ancholi, Malir and Nazimabad. Incidents of intermittent firing were also reported from various parts of the city.
Meanwhile, All Pakistan Shia Action Committee and Shia Ulema Council condemning the killing of Khadim Hussain demanded of the government to bring the culprits to book and award them exemplary punishment.
