The fourth Test between England and Pakistan here at Lord’s will continue as scheduled on Sunday, despite the arrest by British police of a man on fraud allegations connected to that match, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said.

Britain’s News of the World tabloid alleged that some members of the Pakistan team were involved in a betting scam in the fourth and final Test.

Meanwhile a statement issued by the ICC insisted the fourth Test would continue as scheduled on Sunday, adding that no “players nor team officials have been arrested in relation to this incident”.

The ICC statement said: “The International Cricket Council, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have been informed by the Metropolitan Police that a 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud bookmakers.

“The Metropolitan Police have informed the ICC, ECB and PCB that their investigations continue and ICC, ECB and PCB, with the involvement of the ICC Anti Corruption and Security Unit, are fully assisting those enquiries.

“No players nor team officials have been arrested in relation to this incident and the fourth Test match will continue as scheduled on Sunday.”

England lead the series 2-1.
