Former Pakistan Captain and Director General Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Javed Miandad Monday evening hit out at the players of HBL and PIA for showing lack of sportsmen spirit in the final of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy named after the founder of Pakistan Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Sports teaches patience and tolerance and sportsmen spirit but that was badly lacking in the final, he told a gathering at the presentation ceremony at National Stadium here.
It sends bad message when players abuse each other and questioned umpiring decision. It is all part of the game and they have to bear it, he commented.
He expressed the hope that players will learn from their mistakes and behavior and keep it away in the future. If players don’t change their behavior and attitude they will face more problems if they reached international level.
The match besides players behavior lead by Fahad Iqbal was marred by poor umpiring by Messrs Riazuddin and Zameer Haider, who gave several questionable decisions in the final of premier first class event of the country.
Match Referee Anwar Khan imposed cash penalties on Fahad Iqbal, Shan Masood and PIA skipper Kamran Sajid for showing descent against umpiring decisions.
