Information Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and President of the Pakistan Badminton Federation Mian Iftikhar Hussain said on Sunday that promotion of badminton through competitive activities was his top priority.
He was speaking to a delegation of the Pakistan Technical Badminton Association (PTBA) led by Vice President Col. Amanat Ali, which called on him here. Other members of the delegation were PTBA Secretary General Rajal Azhar Mehmood, Join Secretary of the Pakistan Badminton Federation (PBF) Tahir Ishan, President of FATA Badminton Association Riasat Ali, Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Badminton Association Amjad Khan and Finance Secretary Abdul Salam.
The delegation exchanged views regarding the promotion of badminton in the country, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It apprised the minister about the steps so far taken by Member of Punjab Assembly Aamir Hayat Rokri, who is also the Secretary General of the Pakistan Badminton Federation. On his election as President, the delegation congratulated him besides giving a letter of Aamir Hayat Rori, in which he congratulated Mian Iftikhar on his election as President PBF.
Mian Iftikhar assured the deletion that every step would be taken besides utilizing all available resources in order to promote badminton in the country. The delegation also lauded the active role of Mian Iftikhar in the recently concluded 31st National Games.
Mian Iftikhar on his occasion that all those who reposed confidence in him and assured them that he had taken the new responsibility as a challenge and would work dedicatedly with the aim to promotion badminton.
Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that selection of the players for national and international events would be made on merit.
He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa got the honour of organizing the 31st National Games peacefully and secure. “We gave a message of peace to the world and in a position to hold such like prestigious events in future as well,” he added.
Mian Iftikhar Hussain also assured the players of all provinces that they can visit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with out any fear.
He said steps would be taken in order to hold more and more activities so that to provide due facilities to the players to come up at national and international level through competitions. For this purpose a plan would be chalked out soon to hold badminton
competitions in all four provinces including Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and FATA. The delegations thanked him for giving them due response.
