Former Chief Selector and Test leg-spinner Abdul Qadir has praised Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for delaying in naming the captain for next month’s Cricket World Cup.
“Its good move by the board as it would benefit the Pakistan cricket in the long run,” he told in a statement.
“By appointing Misbah as the vice captain for the ODI series against New Zealand, the PCB has actually put pressure on Afridi, which is indeed a good move,” he said.
“I am a firm believer of a backup policy not just for captain but also for every player and official too.”Misbah has done very well lately and I would not be amazed if he (Misbah) is given the responsibility to lead the national team in the mega event” said Abdul Qadir.
On World Cup squad the former leg spinner urged the selectors to consider the name of Rana Naveed, adding that the team selected for the ODI series against News Zealand is almost flawless.
