Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Monday forecast severe cold weather conditions for most parts of the country, indicating further decrease in temperature, during next three to four days.
An official of Met Office told APP that upper parts of the country and some areas in Balochistan are under grip of severe cold wave conditions which are likely to persist for next few days.
The temperature has dropped to minus 10 degrees centigrade in Astore during last 24 hours, however today’ minimum temperatures were Skardu -9 C, Hunza -8 C, Kalat -6 C, Kalam, Gilgit and Quetta -5 C, Parachinar -3 C, Ziarat -2 C, Murree 0 C and Islamabad 2 C.
The official said the temperature in federal capital is likely to decrease to 0 degree centigrade during next 2-3 days.
About fog, the official said foggy conditions are developing in plain areas of the Punjab; Gunjranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Multan and Bahawalpur divisions and KPK; Peshawar, Charsada and Swabi and are expected to intensify in the coming days.
Foggy conditions have developed from Peshawar to Swabi and its duration is being recorded from 0200 hours to 0900 hours while the peak time is 0500 to 0700 hours.
According to reports, the motorway was closed for traffic due to foggy conditions during last 24 hours, however, the motorists are advised to take safety measures and use fog lights while traveling during late night and early morning.
