By: Monitoring Desk, Uploaded: 12th February 2012

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari will nominate a new Prime Minister from within the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) if Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani is convicted by the Supreme Court and consequently disqualified from the membership of National Assembly, it is learnt.

According to sources, PPP Co-Chairman is considering the names of Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar, his sister and confidante Faryal Talpur and Makhdoom Shahabuddin to choose from among them the possible successor of Gilani in case he is convicted by the Supreme Court.

The sources said that President Asif Ali Zardari and key leaders of PPP have quietly begun discussions on a blue print in case Prime Minister Gilani is convicted by the court in a contempt of court case.
