Justice Shakir takes oath as acting chief of Election Commission

Justice Shakirullah Jan on Saturday took oath as Acting Chief Election Commissioner. Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry administered oath to him.
The oath-taking ceremony was held at Government House (Old Governor House), Kashmir Point, Murree, attended by among other officers apex court’s judges and Attorney General.
It should be mentioned here the chief justice nominated Justice Jan as acting CEC on Thursday under Article-217 of the Constitution, as CEC Justice (rtd.) Hamid Ali Mirza retired on Friday after the completion of his three-year term.
