Clinic of Umar Gul’s brother raided by army

By: Farrukh Shabbir, Uploaded: 30th May 2012

Earlier today, a local newspaper reported that Umar Gul’s house was raided by Pakistan Army commandos on a lead, that he is harboring and aiding militants of a banned organisation.

Later, when other sources cross checked the news from Umar Gul’s brother, it was revealed that the raid was not carried out at his home, instead it was at Umar Gul’s brother, Meraj Gul’s clinic in Peshawar, on Wednesday. Aaj News reported.

Meraj Gul was accused of harboring his uncle, who is said to have links with a banned militant organisation. It was speculated by the Army and Intelligence agencies that Meraj Gul’s clinic was being used to aid and provide medical treatments to militants of Khyber Agency.

Meraj Gul was held by authorities for questioning but was later released after no evidence was found against him.

Umar Gul’s brother has termed the whole incident as a big misunderstanding.
