‘Was trapped as part of a planned conspiracy’: Dr.Chishti

ISLAMABAD: In an exclusive interview with Aaj news,  The Pakistani Microbiologist, Dr. Khalil Chishti appeals all the Pakistani to be Cautious in traveling India as he had spent 20 years of his life in prison.

Talking to our correspondent Shoukat Paracha, Dr Chishti told every aspect of his miserable journey in India and his prison since 1992.

On questioning details, Dr. Chisti said that he went India to meet his ailing mother but he was trapped in a fake case. Some miscreants attacked his maternal uncle’s home and attacked his cousin with a dagger and injured him badly. Thereafter, The Indian police put the entire case blame on him.

During the conversation, Dr. Khalil Chishti said “I felt very sad when i was discriminated in India on being Pakistani”. My name was taken as “Kalil Pakistani” in the court cases and files instead of Dr. Muhammad Khalil, he added.

Dr. Chisti said, Justice Markhandi of Indian Supreme court was in contact with me and he did efforts for me.

However Indian civil society and NGOs were also concerned about me, Dr Chishti said.

Pakistani High Commissioner Shahid Malik received me at Islamabad Airport and government of Pakistan worked for my release.

Dr. Mohammad Khalil Chisti returned to Pakistan on Tuesday after a 20-years imprisonment in India.

Dr. Khalil said, he is very happy to see people who gathered to welcome him and he also thanked them.

Pakistani Security personnels helped Dr. Chisti to shift in a car upon arrival from the airport.

Microbiologist Chisti released after Indian Supreme Court allowed to visit his country during the pendency of the appeal against his conviction in a 1992 murder case.

Dr. Chisti is expected to leave for Karachi on today (Wednesday) to join his family members.
