Cabinet approves budget proposals for 2012-13

A special meeting of the Federal Cabinet Friday accorded approval to the budget proposals for Financial Year 2012-13, with a total outlay of Rs 3110 billion. The proposals, that included levying of no new tax, were given a go-ahead by the Cabinet, in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani. The Cabinet also approved an increase of 20 percent in the running basic of the salaries of all government employees. Finance Minister Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh and his financial team in a detailed presentation, informed the Cabinet about the achievements, the proposals and the fiscal targets set for the next financial year.
