ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has named Makhdoom Shahabuddin to be the Prime Minister candidate following the ouster of Yousuf Raa Gilani. The name of Makhdoom Shahabuddin was consensually agreed by the PPP Parliamentary committee on Wednesday.
Two other candidates have also been named as covering candidates. Both the covering candidates were also consensually agreed upon the members of the Parliamentary committee.
Following the meeting, President Zardari stated that clashes amongst the institutions would harm the democracy. With respect to naming the new Prime Minister, the President added that such an action was taken in order to save the country from crisis situation.
