Next Cabinet meeting to ensure no unscheduled load shedding: PM

By: Majid Siddique, Uploaded: 11th June 2012

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has said that the next cabinet meeting would take up the issue of power shortages in the country.

He said that the meeting would approve measures to ensure that no unscheduled load-shedding takes place in the country.

The Prime Minister expressed these views while talking to MNAs from DG Khan and Sargodha Divisions who called on him in his Parliament House Chamber Monday.

The Prime Minister said that the opposition had resorted to petty politics as they had nothing substantive to contribute to discussions on budget.

The Prime Minister said that the PPP and its coalition partners would continue to strengthen democracy, rule of law and the constitution.

MNAs appreciated the MPAs of PPP for their conduct in the Punjab Assembly’s budget session.

They deplored the conduct of the PML(N) on the day when federal budget was presented on June 1 when they tried to make the House hostage to their rowdyism.

They said that the main opposition party repeated the history when during Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s tenure, PML(N) tried to encircle the Prime Minister and the House presented a scene of a fish market.

They said that Prime Minister Gilani appeared three times before the Supreme Court but on the contrary, the PML(N) leadership ransacked the Supreme Court when hundreds of its workers led by its leaders attacked the SC building and the judges had to run for their lives.

Interior Minister, Mr. Rehman Mailk was also present during the meeting. Those who attended the meeting included Mrs. Hina Rabbani Khar, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Muhammad Moazzam Ali Khan Jatoi, MOS for National Food Security, Mir Dost Muhammad Mazari, MOS for Communications, Tasneem Ahmad Qureshi, MOS for Water and Power, Nadeem Afzal Chan, Chairman of Public Accounts Committee, Malik Ammad Khan, MOS for Foreign Affairs, Jamsheed Dasti MNA, and Abdul Qayyum Khan Jatoi MNA.
