GUWAHATI: Twenty men brutally molested and stripped a girl in the Indian city of Guwahati on Monday.

The teenage girl was reported to be targeted outside a pub when she was returning home after a late night party.

According to the local police, the girl, along with her friend, was involved in a brawl following which she was targeted by a group of 20 individuals when she was returning home.

According to a video footage recorded by an Indian News channel, the gang molested the girl for almost half an hour, following which the police intercepted and freed the girl from the mob’s clutches later handing her over to her family.

Reports have also indicated that the girl’s head was also shaved during the shameful incident.

Police did not apprehend any culprit from the scene, rather they reacted later when the issue gained popularity because the video got posted on YouTube and resulted in an uproar from different social and human right activists.

The issue initially got ignited via the social media website Twitter whereby many different Indian and Pakistani human right activists and journalists condemned the awful incident.

Recent reports indicate that only 4 culprits have yet been arrested by the police and that the police is trying to protect some of the culprits in the terrible scenario.

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has finally reacted to the incident and has ordered for immediate action in the case.
