ISLAMABAD: Veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, while terming the draconian law, Armed Forces Special Powers Act AFSPA), as a hanging sword on the Kashmiris, has said that the Act has given the Indian troops a license to kill people in the territory.
Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar thanked the Kashmiri people for observing complete shutdown on Saturday against the killing of a youth in Bandipora,KMS reported.
“The shutdown should serve as an eye-opener for the visiting Defence Minister of India and army chief and they should realize that 7.5 lakh armed troops cannot suppress the Kashmiris’ freedom sentiment,” he said.
The veteran leader said that all the Indian army officers including the new army chief were directly or indirectly involved in the killing of people and other war crimes in occupied Kashmir.
He maintained that killings in the territory would continue to take place until these officers were made answerable in the International Court of Justice.
Castigating the pro-India politicians, Syed Ali Gilani said that these people were only hankering after power and they were least bothered about the sufferings of the common people.
