ISLAMABAD: During the senate session on Tuesday, Awami National Party (ANP) again slammed the government for its apathy over prolonged load shedding in Ramazan, and held the government’s inefficiency, corruption and nepotism responsible for the situation.
As the session began today ANP walked out of the senate.
On Monday, MQM and PML-Q also protested against the loadshedding in Sindh and Punjab assemblies respectively.
MQM’s Tahir Mashhadi also blasted the government over prolonged blackouts. Most of the country is facing around 18 hours of load shedding. Since formation of the current government, the power tariff has been increased by 140 percent.
He also said the main cause of prolonged load shedding was circular debt and no one was willing to pay the amount. He also said a federal minister who had failed to run the Water and Power Ministry had been made the country’s prime minister.
Supporting Mashhadi, opposition leader Ishaq Dar said being a coalition partner, the MQM was also responsible for this menace. He asked the party to get their party chief’s stance on power outages.
