ISLAMABAD: Dr Arsalan Iftikhar, son of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, on Thursday reiterated his stance that the JIT team was illegal but recorded his statement before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Arsalan reasserted his dissatisfaction over the investigation team and also requested the Supreme Court to get the investigation into his case conducted through a retired judge, saying that transparent probe could not be expected from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and federal police working under Adviser to PM on Interior Rehman Malik.
Talking to media after the submission of statement, Arsalan said he got only one notice during the entire case upon which he came to record his statement.
Chairman NAB have association with Malik Riaz so I dn’t expect a fair trail in the case, Arsalan added.
A two-member bench of the apex court comprising Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain heard a review petition filed by counsel for Dr Arsalan against the June 14 court order on an alleged business deal between Malik Riaz Hussain and Arsalan in an attempt to influence judicial process.
Today in the hearing, Arsalan reiterated that the JIT comprised of Police, the Federal investigation authority (FIA) and the NAB was illegal and he had reservations with it.
He said that he had already filed a petition in the apex court over his issues with the probe team.
He requested the probe team to grant him extension before he could record his statement.
