PESHAWAR: A blast targeting a passenger van resulted in 13 casualties and 2 injuries within the Sapai area of the Orakzai Agency on Wednesday. The injured have been shifted to hospitals for medical treatment.
According to sources, the passenger van was traveling from Kohat to Orakzai Agency when a bomb planted by the road side was detonated, resulting in a blast. A group of Pakistani Taliban have claimed the responsibility of the blast stating that the van was targeted because it was carrying people belonging to the Shia community.
“We targeted them because they were Shias, and they are enemies of Islam,” stated Mohammed Afridi, spokesman for the Darra Adam Khel faction of the Pakistan Taliban.
Sources also indicated that the blast occurred prior to the van’s entrance within the Kohat region. Following the blast, Security forces cordoned off the area.
