QUETTA: OPDs in the hospitals across the province including Quetta remained closed on fourth consecutive day as strike of doctors against the abduction of Surgeon Dr Din Mohammad Banuzai continues causing great inconvenience to the poor patients hailing from far-flung areas.

On the call of Pakistan Medical Association, doctors had boycotted the OPDs for indefinite period in protest against abduction of surgeon of Bolan Medical College (BMC) hospital Quetta, Dr. Din Muhammad.

President PMA Balochistan, Dr. Sultan Tareen and other leaders held a meeting at BMC to chalk out further line of action on Monday. They said that abducted doctor has not been recovered even after a lapse of eight days. They called upon government to ensure early and safe recovery of the abducted doctor.

The strike affected hundreds of patients who waited outside the OPDs in scorching heat in civil and BMC hospitals. No operations were carried out in helper and LRBT hospitals due to the protest strike.

However, doctors and paramedics were present at casualty and emergency wards to attend emergency patients. APP
