Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) issued the latest football ratings on Wednesday showing an improvement in Pakistan’s rankings.

As per the new ranking list issued by FIFA, Pakistan climbed up 3 positions and was ranked at 178, ahead of Myanmar and Sri Lanka.

Spain tops the list due their consistent form and recent Euro 2012 victory. Germany on the other hand overtook Uruguay and climbed up to the number 2 spot while Uruguay was pushed back to number 3rd. England, though considered a quarter-final material, was able to achieve the 4th spot.

India has been ranked at 163, climbing up by 1 position while Bangladesh has been ranked at 151 also with an improvement of 1 position.

The improvement in Pakistan’s ranking has been seen as a positive sign as the country’s sporting scope has always been towards cricket, squash and hockey. Of late, the youth of Pakistan has shifted their interest to the footballing arena with few International football clubs also offering training to Pakistani youth.
