Pakistani left-arm fast bowler Junaid Khan has risen 17 places in the ICC ranking for Test bowlers and is now in 42nd position.

During the second test match between Pakistan and Srilanka, Junaid Khan was declared ‘Player of the match’ as he was the only bowler from either side who grabbed five wickets in an innings.

The second Test came to an end on Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Colombo.

Praising his efforts, Cptain Misbah ul Haq said “Junaid Khan bowled his heart out on a flat deck”.

In a statement Sri Lanka’s batsman, Kumar Sangakkara, has praised fast bowler, Junaid Khan, and admitted that the youngster troubled the Islanders in the evening session of the Colombo Test’s fourth day.

“Junaid Khan bowled a pretty good spell and he made the difference at the end of the day,” Sangakkara said. “By getting Mahela out, I thought that was quite an important wicket, especially with about 12 overs to go. The batsmen coming after that had to play a kind of a negative game and that usually allows the bowling side to take the upper hand.” he said.
