Malik directs FIA to investigate Shia website ban

ISLAMABAD: The Senior Advisor to Prime Minister on Interior, Rehman Malik on Wednesday directed Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to take legal action against those who pasted objectionable material on Shia Website.

Issuing directions, he warned all such elements to remove objectionable material from the Web pages immediately. He further directed Director General FIA to submit a report in this regard after talking necessary cognizance to such offence.

Earlier, the website shiakillings.com was banned for a week. The website kept a track record of the Shia massacre within the country over sectarian issues. People were unable to access the website amid the imposition of the ban.

On Tuesday, Shia community were seen protesting against the ban when they were intercepted by the police via aerial firing and shelling. The scenario on Tuesday turned chaotic as protesters burned a mini-bus within the Soldier Bazar area on Tuesday.

The Shia website has now been unblocked. This was stated by Rehman Malik via Twitter.
