Membership of PML-N’s Jamil Awan suspended

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court suspended the membership of PML_N’s Malik Jamil Awan from National Assembly for holding dual nationality, Tuesday.

During the hearing of dual nationality case of parliamentarians SC emarked that the Senate membership of former minister Rehman Malik had been suspended for holding dual nationality and that the court could not be discriminate in the administration of justice.

A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, was hearing cases pertaining to dual nationality of assembly members.

MNA Malik Jameel holds Dutch nationality in addition to being a Pakistani national.

Malik Jamil Awan was elected an MNA from NA-107, Gujrat constituency.

The court has also suspended Farahnaz Isphani, Rehman Malik and MNA PPP’s Zahid Iqbal.
