LAHORE: Difa e Pakistan council long march began from Lahore to Islamabad on Sunday against NATO supply resumption.
Earlier Addressing a press conference, Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC) chairman Maulana Samiul Haq appealed to all factions of society to assist them in protesting against the reopening of Nato supply routes.
Haq said that those living near the Nato routes should also come out on the roads to join the protest. “The government should also assist us for the sake of the independence of judiciary, democracy and to save the country.”He added that the protest movement will be “peaceful”.
Maulana Samiul Haq further said that the DPC has no political aims.
Jamat-ud-Dawa leader Hafiz Saeed slammed government’s move allowing containers to carry supplies for Nato troops fighting in Afghanistan.The act would never be in the interests of the country and Islam, Hafiz Saeed said.
Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hassan also criticized the federal government.
