ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry here Friday heard the sou moto case regarding the killing of a woman in Khanewal.
Resuming the case, CJ slammed Punjab government and police, remarked that they all knew about the incident but did not take any action.
The court summoned IG Punjab on the next hearing and ordered to inform PM Raja Pervaiz Ashraf immediately.
A three members bench was hearing the sou moto case.
Earlier, A woman was stoned to death for cutting grass growing on land belonging to a landlord in Khanewal.
As Per details, 25-year-old Maryam Bibi was cutting grass on of the field of Raja Mehbub who pressed her to have illicit relations with him. The woman refused to follow the order of the landlord who ultimately ordered his men to teach her a lesson.
They went to her house and killed her by hitting her on head with stones. Moreover, the landlord also abducted her husband. The victim was mother of five. Police have registered a case against nine accused for the murder of poor woman. The heirs to woman have appealed to senior officials for action against the culprits.
