LAHORE: The city witnessed Eid shopping getting momentum with every passing day ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr at almost all the markets which clogged traffic at roads leading to main commercial centres.

Families were seen busy buying ready to wear garments as well as shoes and accessories. Makeshift stalls of mehndi and bangles have been drawing big crowds of women and children.

Anarkali bazaar, Liberty Market, Mall Road, Azam Market, Firdous Market, Bagwanpura Bazar, main Bazar Ichra, Moon Market, Kareem block Market, Barkat Market, Main Market, Ghalib Market and other posh bazars draw crowds with only five days remaining before Eid. “Bano Bazar, Anarkali” could be consider the busiest market in the provincial capital as this traditional market offers biggest collection of bangles, henna and other Eid related itmes for women and children.

Meanwhile, citizens had to tackle the problems caused by beggars of all shades and ages swarming marketplaces to make most of the Holy month of Ramadan when people give charities generously.

Besides in Karachi, Eid shopping is growing in different markets including Clifton, Old City Area, Jubilee Cloth Market, Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, Haideri Market, Saddar, Defence, Tariq Road and other areas.

Traders hoped that night shopping in other localities of the city will soon start. But, they also showed dismay over the rising cases of extortions at markets by outlaws, saying this year at least three-fold increase in extortion has taken place comparing the last year cases.APP
