Pakistani film bags honors at the New York Film Festival

KARACHI: Pakistani feature film “Lamha” bagged two awards at the New York City International Film Festival. The film which is also recognized as “Seedlings” won the best feature film and the best actress in a lead role award.

Seedlings, starred Amina Shiekh as the lead actress opposite Mohib Mirza. Other notable names include actor Gohar Rasheed and producer Meher Jaffri. The directorial job was carried out by Mansoor Mujahid, who is new to the entertainment scenario.

The movie was nominated for other categories as well:

i) Best Actor in a lead role – Mohib Mirza

ii) Best Actor in a supporting role – Gohar Rasheed

iii) Best original screenplay – Summer Nicks

iv) Best Director – Mansoor Mujahid

v) Best Score category

The award ceremony was held late night at the Angelica Film Center, New York.

A full house was witnessed at the film’s premiere held on August 10 at the Tribeca Cinema.

The film revolves around the life of a couple (Mohib and Amina) who try to mend their situation towards stability after losing their only child.
