“Pre-paid mobile connection would not be blocked” – Rehman Malik

LAHORE: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Saturday said that no pre-paid mobile connection would be blocked but nobody would be allowed to use unidentified connections.He was talking to media representative at the Allama Iqbal International Airport after inaugurating Integrated Border Management System (IBMS) on Saturday.

Malik stated that the government had no confrontation with the judiciary or cellular service providers. On Eid days mobile phone service was suspended only in major cities for protecting people from any terrorist activity as his ministry had received information about it, he said and added that proof in that regard could be provided to media.

The Interior Minister said that mobile phone connections were being issued to clean citizens and the criminals were also using the same illegally as there was no effective mechanism in this respect.

A transparent policy would soon be introduced in this regard, he said, adding that no action would be taken that could cause inconvenience to the public. Agencies
