KARACHI: The United States has released 1.1 billion dollars to Pakistan under the Coalition Support Fund (CSF), after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the two countries regarding restoration of NATO supplies.
The CSF amount, designed to reimburse Pakistan for the cost of counter-insurgency operations, had been withheld due to tensions between the two countries and Islamabad’s closure of the supply routes after a deadly U.S. air raid along the Afghan border that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers last November.
The MoU will be effective till December 31, 2015 and could be extended for one year after consultations. (Agencies)
