Australia slips to 10th position after T20 loss to Pakistan‎

By: Alize Ahmed, Uploaded: 8th September 2012

Australia have slipped to 10th in the ICC Twenty20 world rankings after their latest defeat to Pakistan in Dubai.

Pakistan wrapped up a 2-0 victory in the three-match series and the result means that Australia are now below Ireland in the rankings table ahead of this month’s ICC World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

Pakistan made 151 for four in their 20 overs and though the Aussies fought bravely to match the total in dramatic circumstances, Pakistan prevailed in the ensuing super over as Umar Akmal scampered a single from the final ball.

Despite the defeat, Australia can perhaps take heart from their much improved performance in the second match, having been bowled out for a lowly 89 and then crashing to a seven-wicket defeat in the first encounter.
