Blasphemous film: CJ directs PTA to take down all sacrilegious content

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry ordered Pakistan Telcom Authority to block all the sacrilegious content on social website (Youtube) including the anti-Islam film.

The petition was filed by Ameer Jamat e Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmed. During the case proceeding Supreme Court ordered PTA to block all such content which hurts Muslims sentiments.

According to the details, CJP also ordered PEMRA to set up rules and regulations and submit a reply within two weeks.

The entire Muslim world continued to protest since last six days against the sacrilegious film that disrespects Islam and beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Thousands of people rallied across Pakistan on Sunday to denounce an anti-Islam film with protestors burning US flags and effigies of President Barack Obama, and calling to sever ties with Washington.

They chanted “Down with America”, “We will sacrifice our lives to safeguard the honour of the Prophet” and “Hang the film maker.”

Various demonstrations were witnessed in different cities of Sindh, punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and protested against the Ant-Islamic film ‘Innocence of Muslims’. The protesters demanded to sever all diplomatic ties with the United States.

‘PTA directs ISPs to Block content’

Following the courts’ orders PTA has directed all the Internet Service Providers to block the blasphemous content.

PTA has also called on a meeting of its task force to look into the matter.

Around 700-800 links will be soon blocked in this regard, sources said.
