Conduct Mumbai trial realistically, not emotionally, says FM Khar

By: Fawad Khan, Uploaded: 7th September 2012

Talking to the Indian news agency Times Now, ahead of the Indo-Pak talks, Pakistan’s foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar said that India should conduct the Mumbai terror trial from a realistic point of view, rather than an emotional one.

Speaking to the media ahead of her meeting with her Indian counterpart, SM Krishna, she said that terrorism was the mantra of the past, not the future.

Hinting a new visa policy reform, she indicated that a new visa agreement will be signed during SM Krishna’s visit to Pakistan.

FM Khar, insisted that Pakistan has been making efforts to change the point of view from which India was seen by in the past. She said that Pakistan has sent some strong signals and by doing such, we have drifted away from many positions we have held in regards to India before.

She claimed that resuming the dialogue process between both countries will transform these baby steps towards friendship and prosperity, into medium sized stripes and eventually into giant leaps, which will require a change in mindset of people living in both countries.
