COLOMBO: Dismal performance from the Pakistani batsmen in their second warm up match led them to a defeat against England on Wednesday. England defeated Pakistan by 15 runs in a warm-up tie between the teams.
England, after the winning the toss decided to bat first. Saeed Ajmal, Yasir Arafat and Raza Hasan restricted England and held them to a decent total of 111 runs. Ajmal grabbed 4 wicket while Arafat and Hasan grabbed a brace. Luke Wright starred for the English team with 38 runs.
Replying to a small target, Pakistani batting line up stumbled like a house of cards. The Pakistani batsmen were unable to play the English bowling and were restricted to 96 runs with the final wicket remaining.
What came as a surprise was the fact that Pakistani teams had the replacement opportunity whereby they replaced their bowlers with their batsmen while batting. Pakistan’s 9 batsmen were unable to chase a total of 111 runs and this clearly attested their unpredictable nature.
Asad Shafiq was the highest scorer for the Paksitani team with 20 runs while Jade Dernbach and Danny Briggs shined in the bowling department for the English team.
