ISLAMABAD: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) arrested but later released the son of former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Friday in connection with his alleged involvement in Ephedrine case.
Police said they detained Ali Musa Gilani ahead of his scheduled court appearance.
But later he was granted bail by the Supreme court and ordered him to submit two personal bonds of Rs 500,000 each.
Some footages showed police dragging Ali Musa Gilani from his vehicle and handcuffing him.
He is accused of pressuring Health Ministry officials to exceed export quotas for ephedrine, an ingredient for cough medicine which can also be used to make ecstasy.
‘Musa respects Judiciary like his Father’
Talking to media after his bail, Ali Musa Gilani said, that he always respect the supreme judiciary like his father Ex-Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani.
I came back from London on a single notice of supreme court, he added. However, he has the right to approach Supreme court against the verdict.
He also thanked media but requested not to call him the central character in Ephedrine Quota case.
Musa Gilani also showed his confidence upon the judiciary, saying that he did not trust ANF, because he had requested several times to them to change his investigative officer. “The investigative officer has submitted an affidavit against me in the case, so how will he prove his own affidavit wrong?”.
Unlike uniformed men we always respect judiciary and have faith upon it’s justice, he added.
