SHARJAH: Mohammed Hafeez and Nasir Jamshed put on an opening century partnership Monday to lead Pakistan to 244-7 as it bids to win its first one-day international series against Australia since 2002.
Hafeez hit 78 and Jamshed 48 in a 129-run stand, Pakistan’s second highest for the first wicket against Australia, in the third and final ODI between the teams. Hafeez struck four boundaries and two sixes, while Jamshed cracked six boundaries.
Misbah-ul-Haq and Azhar Ali also put on a 35-run partnership. Mitchell Starc’s performance was one of the few bright spots for Australia’s bowling attack, finishing with 4-51. Mitchell Johnson took 2-33.
Australia won the first match by four wickets last Tuesday, with Pakistan winning the second on Friday by seven wickets.
