KARACHI: An Oil mill located in SITE area Karachi caught fire late Friday night and its still continued to blaze after nine hours on Saturday.
Fire tenders from all fire brigade stations of the city were summoned to fight the fire. The firefighters entered the factory after breaking the factory wall to extinguish the fire.
According to Taufiq Qaimkhani, Station Officer of SITE Fire Station, some 30 fire tenders from around the city brought the blaze under control after several hours. The process of cooling is now underway.
Taufiq said that the Ghee-making factory was close at the time of the incident.
He stated that two of the firemen were hurt and were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage could not be ascertained immediately, he added.
