By: Alize Ahmed, Uploaded: 24th September 2012

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court rejected the petition filed against General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani’s extension on Monday. The case was heard by IHC’s Chief Justice Iqbal Hameed-ur-Rehman.

Justice Iqbal Hameed-ur-Rehman rejected the petition filed by Colonel (Retired) Inam-ur-Rehman. Colonel (Rtd) Inam-ur-Rehman held the stance that Ashfaq Kayani’s extension was unconstitutional as he was 60 years old and not further extension should be granted to him as it would be against the constitution.

During the hearing, Justice Iqbal forwarded his remarks stating that issues pertaining to Army employees can not be brought within the civilian Courts under Article 199 (3) and the case was finally dismissed with the rejection of the petition.
