Stale food takes over 100 policemen to hospital

By: Alize Ahmed, Uploaded: 24th September 2012

KARACHI: More than 100 cops were admitted to Jinnah Hospital late on Sunday with food poisoning complaint. The under-training cops at the Razzaqabad Training Center saw their health deteriorate after having dinner at the training institute late on Sunday. Of the entire number admitted within the hospital, three policemen are reported to be in a critical state.

Reports have indicated that the food was stale and that the remaining under-training cops have protested against the low quality of the food provided to them at the training center. The cops stated that they are usually handed over such low quality food and they are even asked to pay for the food.

Police academy sources said that the last meal served at the mess was a dish of chickpeas and boiled eggs.

Governor Sindh has taken notice of the event and has ordered a strict inquiry against the responsible officials. Meanwhile Health Minister Dr. Sagheer Ahmed, while talking to media representatives, stated that more than 40 cops were admitted to the Jinnah hospital and no casualty has yet been reported as a result of the food poisoning issue.
