KARACHI:   A fire broke out in a tissue paper manufacturing factory in Karachi’s Shershah area, here Friday.

According to our correspondent, the fire erupted in the early hours of Friday.

He said some 10 fire tenders from around the city brought the blaze under control after several hours. The process of cooling is now underway.

Meanwhile, all the 150 workers evacuated safely.

He stated that one of the firemen was hurt duing the rescue and was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage could not be ascertained immediately, he added.

This is the third incident of fire after the recent Baldia Town tragedy and brings to light the ongoing issue of occupational hazards in factories.
