QUETTA: Syed Matiullah Agha, Member of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) has been elected as the new speaker of Balochistan assembly, following the ousted of Aslam Bhootani, reported Aaj news Monday.

Today’s session of the Balochistan Assembly began under the chairmanship of Dr Marri during which Agha had submitted his nomination papers for the position of assembly speaker.

The assembly also nominated Dr Fauzia Marri of BNP as the Deputy speaker assembly.

Both of them were elected unopposed as no other candidates had filed their nomination papers.

Meanwhile, Balochistan High Court (BHC) rejected the petition of  former speaker Nawab Aslam Bhootani regarding his dismissal from the post of speaker.

Chief Justice BHC, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel slammed the decision saying that the government should wait for the verdict of the apex court.

The court hearing arguments from both sides later disposed off the petition of Aslam Bhootani.
