ISLAMABAD: Following an unconditional apology from MQM’s chief Altaf Hussain, the supreme court has discharged the contempt of court notice against him, reported Aaj news here Monday.
The apology statement was submitted by counsel for Hussain, Barrister Farogh Naseem.
Hussain’s nine-member legal team appeared before the court to defend him. Barrister Farogh Naseem told the court that his client respected the court therefore submitted an unconditional apology.
He always respect the supreme judiciary and assured the court to avoid such remarks in future.
MQM leader Farooq Sattar also tendered an unconditional apology.
On December 14, the apex court had issued contempt of court notice to Altaf over a defamatory speech against the judiciary on December 2 during a telephonic conversation from London.
