KARACHI: Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Wednesday met with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain in London.
Malik’s visit comes in the wake of MQM’s announcement to participate in Tahirul Qadri’s planned long march and protests in Islamabad on Jan 14.
According to the media reports, the two leaders met at the MQM’s international secretariat and discussed the country’s overall political situation in the context of the long march announced by the chief of the Tehrik-i-Minhajul Quran (TMQ).
During the meeting, the minister conveyed a message from President Asif Ali Zardari to the MQM chief.
Malik had left for London on Tuesday to meet Hussain who had sought support of the army and the judiciary for the call of ‘change’ given by Qadri.
The minister had left for London soon after meeting President Zardari in Karachi and had reportedly discussed with him Qadri’s planned long march.
