Measles epidemic in Sindh kills 11 more infants

SHIKARPUR: Measles epidemic continued to take its toll in Sindh as 11 more children died on Wednesday in Kandhkot and other areas of the province.

According to details, provincial health authorities have failed to control the epidemic and as a result up till now 201 children have died due to the epidemic.

On Wednesday, six infants died in Shikarpur while hospital sources said that 40 children are still under treatment. They said 19 children died in the city alone in the last 33 days.

The most affected area is Kandhkot where two more children died today while death toll in the area has reached 108.

Casualties were also reported from other areas including Ghotki, Jacobabad, Khairpur, Sukkur and Salehpat.

Meanwhile, provincial health department has started a door-to-door vaccination campaign in the affected areas
