Measles outbreak reaches Balochistan; 2 children dead

JAFFARABAD: Measles outbreak in Sindh spread further towards Balochistan as two children were reported dead along with several other being reported affected within Balochistan province on Thursday.

The two deaths were reported within Jaffarabad district while many other areas of the province reported several cases of the disease.

Sindh has been the hugely affected province as a result of the disease. Besides Khairpur, Larkana, Qambar, Jacobabad and Badin, district Sukkur has been the mostly affected area within the Sindh province.

The affected children are being provided treatment within government hospitals within the province.

Commissioner Mirpurkhas, after receiving reports about the spread of the disease within his province, has called upon a daily report from the health authorities with respect to the disease.

According to Sindh Health department, almost 100 deaths have resulted because of the measles outbreak within the province while the World Health Organization contradicts this by providing a figure of 206 children deaths.
