KARACHI: A member of Provincial Assembly belonging to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and three others were gunned down in Orangi town Karachi on Thursday.
Aaj News correspondent says that, Around four bikers were said to have opened fire on the car of MPA Manzar Imam and killed him on the spot.
The other deceased includes the guard of MPA Manzar Imam and two policemen, said police officials.
The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed hospital.
Karachi has been worst hit in the wave of target killing which has taken hundreds of lives since 2012. Gunning down political activists and commoners has become a norm within the metropolis.
‘Tension grips Karachi after MPA’s killing’
Following the killing of MPA Manzar Imam, the city gripped into a sudden tension as firing incidents were reported in several areas.
The markets were closed down in areas including Gulshan e Iqbal, FB area, Gulistan e Johar, Nazimabad and other.
It is the second shooting of an MQM provincial lawmaker in just over two years in Karachi, Pakistan’s business centre with a population of 18 million.
