Farooq Sattar, the Deputy Convener of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) stated on Monday, that is not a possibility for the party chief Altaf Hussian to come to Pakistan due to certain unavoidable conditions.
Whilst talking to the media along with other members of the party just outside Supreme Court – before the hearing – Sattar also told that the party members came to the court to solely represent their leader as MQM has always respected the courts.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan is set to conduct hearing into a contempt notice issued to Altaf Hussain today.
However, the apex court had directed Altaf Hussain through a notice to appear on 7th January to justify his remarks against the court during a public gathering.
On the other hand, the MQM’s legal team headed by Barrister Nasim Farogh and comprising Qazi Khalid Advocate and others moved an appeal in the Supreme Court, seeking consent for MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar or any lawyer to represent Altaf Hussain in the court.
The petition also sought exclusion from personal appearance of the MQM chief from today’s hearing.
