LAHORE: Young doctors have suspended in-door medical services to patients within Punjab hospitals on Thursday. The protests have been carried out by the Young Doctors Association (YDA) to show dissent over not releasing the young doctors who carried out an onslaught against senior doctors in Gujranwala on Wednesday.
Senior Doctors are however performing their duties with black bands marking their silent protest against the Gujranwala manhandling.
Punjab government, in response, has imposed a mandatory service act province wise and has informed the absent/non-working paramedic staff to face proceedings under Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability (PEDA) act.
According to Punjab Health department’s spokesman, all the patients would be provided medical assistance by the staff and that no permission was given to close the medical services. He further added that anyone found absent from duty would have face severe actions under the PEDA act.
