ISLAMABAD: A three-day art exhibition, displaying creative work of the students of Foundation University Islamabad (FUI), kicked off here on Thursday.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Maj. Gen. Gul Muhammad HI(M) (Retd), Rector FUI at the Rawalpindi Campus of the University on Thursday. He was accompanied by Prof. Dr. Aftab Ahmad, Director Foundation University, Rawalpindi Campus.
Various eminent artists, faculty members and art lovers from the twin cities visited the exhibition and praised the artistic work of the FUI students. The exhibition comprises the work of students in graphic design, interior design, photography and drawing.
While appreciating innovative work of the youngsters, Rector FUI admired the faculty members for encouraging talented young artists and providing them an opportunity to portray their skills.
He said, the humanities and arts furnish the dreams for the future shape of our world and thereby are the force behind the progress and growth of any society.
Maj. Gen. Gul Muhammad HI(M) (Retd) said that the department of humanities and arts at FUI has the excellent faculty whose initiative knows no bounds and whose dedication is comparable to the very best.
He said the University students have necessary curiosity, enthusiasm and desire to learn and talent for creative work par excellence. The FUI is willing to go all out to support fine and liberal arts, he added.
Prof Dr. Aftab Ahmad said that the department of Humanities and Liberal arts houses one of the most culturally and socially vital programs of the campus, Masters of Fine Arts.
He said, FUI has paid particular attention to the development of the requisite infrastructure for the program and has equipped it with a state-of-the-art design studio and computer labs.
The exhibition will remain open till Saturday.
