KARACHI: The Karachi Police arrested total 3862 accused including 2465 absconders and 300 wanted during first two months of new calender year 2013.
This was informed in a performance report about crackdown against criminals by Special Investigation Unit (SIU), Anti- Violent Crime Cell (AVCC), and Anti Car Lifting Cell (ACLC), said a statement issued on Sunday.
The performance report of the SIU, AVCC and ACLC from the period of Jan 1 to Feb 28 2013, was submitted to Inspector General of Sindh Police, Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari, it added.
The statement said that the police conducted raids, snap checking, patrolling, recky and targetted operations in jurisdictions of different police stations here.
The police held 236 encounters with outlaws while 153 gangs of robbers were eliminated. The police also recovered 24 light machine guns (LMGs), seven shot-guns, 15 rifles, 21 repeaters, 23 revolvers, 999 pistols, 11 mousers, 25 daggers, 19 hand grenades and 205 cell phones from the arrested accused.
The police have registered cases against the accused and teams have been constituted to conduct raids for arresting the accomplices of the arrested outlaws.
